Welcome to our FAQ page – where we mix fun with function and answer your most burning cake questions. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, drop us a message. We’re always happy to help!

1. Why are you called The Joy of Cake?

It’s all in the name! Our founder, Dan Joy, has been bringing smiles to faces with cake for over 25 years. His mission? Spread joy, one slice at a time. Hence: The Joy of Cake. Simple, sweet, and full of love (and icing).

2. Do you offer next-day delivery six days a week?

Yes, we do! We deliver Monday to Saturday, but here’s the catch: orders must be placed before 1PM, Monday to Friday. Orders placed on Friday before 1PM can arrive Saturday or Monday. Orders placed over the weekend will be delivered from Tuesday onwards.

Our team is available Monday to Friday, 8AM–5PM. You can leave us a message anytime, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Fast, friendly, and efficient – that’s our style.

5. Can I collect my cake?

We currently offer delivery only nationwide through our expert couriers. However, select suppliers may offer collection on request. Please reach out to us directly before ordering if you have a specific request.

6. How do you ensure the cake arrives safely?

Our cakes are packed using custom-engineered cake boxes that have been rigorously tested for safe transport. Cakes are sealed with fondant for freshness and shipped with protective packaging. Our courier network is experienced with fragile goods – success rate? Over 99%.

7. What happens if there’s bad weather?

When snow, storms or meteor showers threaten your party, we’ve got your back. We recommend ordering at least 3 working days in advance during adverse conditions. You can always contact us to amend the delivery date if needed.

8. When should I schedule my cake delivery before an event?

We suggest booking your delivery for 2 working days before your event. Our cakes stay fresh for up to 7 days thanks to the airtight fondant seal. Planning ahead gives you peace of mind (and a perfect cake).

Peak seasons note: Around Christmas, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, choose a delivery date 2+ working days in advance to avoid courier delays.

9. How many portions will I get from my cake?

10. Do you make tiered cakes?

Absolutely! Whether it’s two, three or more tiers, we’ve got the skills and structure to make it stand tall and taste amazing. Some designs are available for delivery; others may require special arrangements. Let us know what you have in mind.

11. Do you make wedding cakes?

Yes! From elegant florals to modern, quirky styles, our award-winning suppliers are here to make your big day unforgettable. Even if it’s last-minute, get in touch – we’ll do our best to help.

12. Do you make corporate cakes?

Yes, and we love them! We’ve worked with big brands like Amazon, Lego, and Just Eat. From branded cupcakes to large-scale event cakes, we can design and deliver bespoke creations that wow your clients or staff. Just fill out our Corporate Order Form on the website.

13. How many successful cake deliveries have you made?

Together with our suppliers, we’ve successfully delivered 100,000s cakes across the UK. From London to the Highlands – we’ve done it, and we’ll do it again (with sprinkles).

14. Are your cakes suitable for vegetarians or vegans?

Many of our cakes are vegetarian-friendly, and we do offer vegan options too. Just look for the “Vegan” or “Vegetarian” labels on each product page, or contact us before placing your order if you have specific dietary requirements.

15. Do you cater for allergies?

While some of our suppliers offer cakes without specific allergens (like nuts, gluten, or dairy), all cakes are produced in kitchens where allergens are present. We cannot guarantee any cake is 100% allergen-free. Always check the product page or contact us with concerns before ordering.

16. Can I customise a cake design?

Yes! Many cakes can be customised with names, colours, themes, or personal messages. Simply use the customisation box on the product page, or contact us for more advanced designs.

17. Can I include a personalised message with the cake?

Of course – we offer a message card option at checkout. Leave your note in the box provided and we’ll make sure it’s included with your cake (printed or handwritten depending on the supplier).

18. Can I change my order after it’s placed?

If your order hasn’t entered production, we may be able to make changes. Contact us as soon as possible with your order number and the requested change. Unfortunately, once production starts, no changes can be guaranteed.

19. Can I schedule an order for a future date?

Absolutely. At checkout, you can select a delivery date up to several weeks in advance – just make sure it’s at least 2 working days before your event.

20. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and secure payments via Stripe. All transactions are encrypted and PCI-compliant for your safety.
